“… BIO-key has announced new TouchLock Carabiner locks offering extra-tough security for bikes, scooters, and motorcycles; and a ‘Smart Commercial Lock’ solution called the SCL System, which is meant for industrial and commercial use.”
With the year’s biggest show in consumer technology about to get underway, BIO-key is preparing to debut its latest biometric lock devices at the event.
The fingerprint sensor specialist first delved into biometric locks two years ago, launching its initial biometric padlocks at CES 2017. The Touchlock products quickly became revenue generators for BIO-key, which otherwise focuses on biometric security solutions for the enterprise; and the company has since expanded this product line into biometric padlocks for luggage and biometric bike locks.
Now, BIO-key has announced new TouchLock Carabiner locks offering extra-tough security for bikes, scooters, and motorcycles; and a ‘Smart Commercial Lock’ solution called the SCL System, which is meant for industrial and commercial use. With software connected to the Azure IoT Cloud platform, the latter is designed to use fingerprint recognition to let organizations identify and track who specifically is opening its locks, which could be used to secure shipping containers or trucks, for example.
The new solutions should help to add further momentum to BIO-key’s TouchLock product line, with BIO-key Hong Kong Managing Director Kelvin Wong noting in a press release that CES will see 160,000 visitors, “providing an outstanding forum” for the new products’ introduction. The company’s CEO, Michael DePasquale, meanwhile, added that BIO-key’s showcase at CES – which will also feature the company’s other fingerprint sensor offerings – will represent the kickoff for “an active business development effort” that should “drive continued growth in 2019.”
CES 2019 is scheduled to run from January 8th to 11th in Las Vegas, with BIO-key slated to showcase its wares from booth 36934.
