Iris biometrics specialist Delta ID has been named one of Red Herring’s Top 100 North American companies.
Red Herring is a global media company aimed at connecting investors and technologically innovative companies. Its annual Top 100 competitions select the best companies on a regional basis and in one global competition; this year’s North America competition saw about 1,200 applicants, and as such the recognition offers considerable validation for Delta ID.
The company was selected based on its ActiveIRIS technology, which uses iris-based authentication to unlock devices and perform other verification actions. The technology was used in the world’s first iris-scanning smartphone last year, and in a recent interview with Mobile ID World, Delta ID CEO Salil Prabhakar asserted that multiple global OEMs are now shipping the company’s technology.
The Red Herring recognition should help to boost its profile even further. In a statement, Red Herring CEO Alex Vieux said that for the 2016 competition, “selecting the top achievers was extremely difficult,” adding, “Delta ID should be proud of its accomplishment under such strong competition.”
