Deutsche Telekom will use OT-Morpho’s GSMA Phase 2-compliant eSIM solution for remote device subscription management, the companies have announced.
The eSIM solution allows mobile network operators to start, change, or cancel network subscriptions without the need to physically remove a SIM from a device. Its first commercial launch is slated for Germany and Croatia, and the companies say that it will be launched across all of Deutsche Telecom’s European affiliates “in the coming months,” according to a statement.
Commenting on the agreement, Deutsche Telekom Terminal Technology VP Arnd Gallmann explained that OT-Morpho’s ‘contribution to standardization bodies and preliminary testing,’ as well as ‘its capabilities and motivation to drive technology’ led the German telecom to conclude that it’s ‘the right partner for this project’. Gallmann added that the collaboration ‘anticipates… the growth of the Internet of Things market and the design of new applications and services.’
News of the major deal arrives just ahead of OT-Morpho’s eagerly anticipated H1 report scheduled for October 6th.
