FaceTec Becomes First Company to Attain Level-2 Presentation Attack Detection Certification from iBeta

February 5, 2019

“FaceTec says that, all told, its Level-1 and Level-2 PAD testing involved over 3,300 spoofing attempts over a period of 12 days.”

FaceTec Becomes First Company to Attain Level-2 Presentation Attack Detection Certification from iBeta

FaceTec has done it again. The company announced that it has now become the first and only company to attain Level-2 certification in the iBeta Presentation Attack Detection evaluation.

The news comes after FaceTec’s ZoOm 3D Face Authentication solution became the first to attain Level-1 certification in the test last summer, attaining a perfect score in the process. It has maintained that winning streak in the Level-2 testing, which involved the use of 3D constructions and masks worn by live human evaluators in attempts to fool the facial recognition system. FaceTec says that, all told, its Level-1 and Level-2 PAD testing involved over 3,300 spoofing attempts over a period of 12 days.

iBeta is the only NVLAP -accredited lab running presentation attack tests based on the ISO 30107 international standard. In other words, its PAD evaluation is the industry standard to beat, and FaceTec’s achievement in passing Level-2 is a considerable accomplishment for the company. “The perfect test results prove our AI-driven Liveness Detection technology is robust against intense spoofing attacks and secure enough for high-value targets,” commented FaceTec CTO Josh Rose.

The Level-2 success is already adding momentum to FaceTec’s fast-growing business, with the company asserting in a statement that as a “direct response” to the PAD certifications, it “has been approached by several large international organizations in need of a trusted authentication solution.” That, in turn, is expected to lead to “unprecedented user and customer growth in 2019,” which is shaping up to be a busy year for FaceTec’s newly-appointed VP of Business Development.
