Last year, eWBM’s biometric USB key was one of the first security solutions to receive FIDO2 certification. Now the IoT device manufacturer will help set those standards as the newest member of the FIDO Alliance’s Board of Directors.
The decision was made at the FIDO member plenary at the end of January, and gives eWBM voting rights on matters of policy within the organization. The company is also expected to lend its FIDO2-certified expertise to help develop better security and authentication solutions as IoT technology continues to evolve.
“We now have the opportunity to show leadership in international standards related to online security and authentication,” said eWBM CEO Stephen Oh. “We will continue to work hard to deliver the best value to our customers by providing secure and convenient biometric authentication.”
eWBM is the fourth Korean member of the FIDO Alliance Board of Directors, joining Samsung, BC Card, and Raonsecure. The announcement comes a little more than a year after the Alliance formed a Korea Working Group in its ongoing efforts to set global standards for password-free authentication technology.
