The FIDO Alliance is one of the most important organizations in the identity technology industry. Founded in 2012, the “Fast Identity Online” consortium has been a relentless advocate for the promotion of strong, post-password authentication mechanisms. In so doing, it has set highly influential industry standards, and helped to encourage a range of organizations to embrace biometrics and other 2FA and multi-factor authentication technologies to upgrade their digital security.
So it’s a very special occasion to welcome Andrew Shikiar, FIDO’s Executive Director and CEO, on this week’s edition of the ID Talk podcast. In this wide-ranging discussion, Andrew tackles a number of critical issues in the world of authentication and identity security. Among other things, he delves into the mechanics of passkeys, the very serious threats of phishing and deepfakes, and the rigorous testing process that vendors go through in the accreditation process through FIDO’s affiliate labs. He also outlines FIDO’s important new Face Verification Certification program, which is helping to standardize the kind of selfie-based identity assurance technology that is now proliferating across various sectors.
