Fingerprint Cards has announced two new smartphone integrations of its fingerprint sensors, both in devices from Huawei.
In a statement, Fingerprints suggested that the new Huawei Y9 is using an FPC1028 fingerprint sensor model. Reflecting another, increasingly popular trend in mobile biometrics, the smartphone also supports facial recognition, making it a multi-modal device.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Nova 4e features an FPC1511 sensor model. This appears to be one of Fingerprints’ more popular sensor models these days, with recent smartphones from Xiaomi, Oppo, and LG also featuring the FPC1511.
While Huawei has been making headlines in recent weeks over allegations that it had violated various economic sanctions, Fingerprint Cards proclaimed in its announcement, “We are very proud and delighted to provide world class biometrics for Huawei.”
The integrations further underscore the ongoing importance of smartphone integrations for Fingerprints as the company looks to expand its business activities beyond the mobile market.
