BIO-key has added a facial recognition feature to its MobileAuth authentication app. The company is a long-time specialist in fingerprint recognition, but has in recent years revitalized its business model with the integration of a more general multi-factor solution, PortalGuard, thanks to a strategic acquisition. CEO Michael DePasquale had revealed BIO-key’s plans to add support for facial recognition, as well as voice recognition, to the MobileAuth app in a corporate update last summer.
Dubbed “FacePositive”, the new feature was described by BIO-key as a “server-secured” biometric option. It arrives in the MobileAuth app alongside new push token support. The PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service platform, meanwhile, has received a new user experience for administrators.
BIO-key plans to show off these platform upgrades at the Gartner Identity and Access Management Summit in Las Vegas, which runs from August 22 to 24. BIO-key will be showcasing from booth 232 at Caesars Palace.
“We plan to disrupt the status quo with our cutting-edge security solutions, like Identity-Bound Biometrics and our one-of-a-kind multi-factor authentication (MFA) app, MobileAuth, which put people back at the center of IAM,” DePasquale asserted in a statement. “We expect global enterprises and industry leaders to take note of how we’re re-establishing the role of trust in security by providing authentication that verifies the person.”
