The GSMA has revealed the first details for its MWC (“Mobile World Congress”) Barcelona 2020 event happening in February.
MWC Barcelona 2020, the largest event in the MWC series that includes MWC Americas, MWC Shanghai and MWC Los Angeles, has chosen ‘Limitless Intelligent Connectivity’ as this year’s theme, and will focus on AI, Big Data and the Internet of Things, all powered by 5G.
“Supported by 5G, Limitless Intelligent Connectivity will shape a new digitally-driven industrial revolution,” said GSMA CEO John Hoffman. “Attendees will be able to experience and shape how mobile will help their industries to work smarter and use finite resources more efficiently. Also, by connecting everyone to everything, across every industry, these opportunities are without limits.”
MWC Barcelona is expected to host more than 2,400 companies from both the mobile ecosystem and adjacent industries such as automotive and consumer electronics to highlight the latest in technological innovations. There will be more than 40 countries represented on the pavilion show floor, and over 100,000 attendees are expected to attend this year’s edition of the event.
The popular GSMA Innovation City pavilion returns this year and will showcase interactive demonstrations of innovation in the fields of entertainment, retail, transportation, public services and industry from partners such as Google, Huawei, KT Corporation, Sierra Wireless and Turkcell. The pavilion will pay special attention to innovations in 5G, AI, big data, and the IoT, highlighting the areas of intelligent connectivity that are central to this year’s theme.
Also revealed is the list of confirmed keynote speakers for the four-day event, with a number of executives from a range of industries scheduled to speak.
MWC Barcelona 2020 will take place from February 24-27 at the Fira Gran Via, with some events also taking place at the Fira Montjuïc.
