Gartner has identified HID Global as a leading provider of indoor location services. More specifically, Gartner has placed HID Global in the Leaders quadrant in its 2020 Magic Quadrant report on global Indoor Location Services, making HID Global the first company to receive such a distinction. HID Global was listed in the Challenger quadrant in 2019.
“Being a Leader showcases our momentum in a rapidly expanding market and flexibility within our product and solutions portfolio,” said HID Global VP and Identification Technologies Managing Director Marc Bielmann. “We are committed to addressing core challenges around asset tracking, employee safety and security, and location analytics.”
HID Global has been particularly invested in Location Services for the healthcare industry. The company previously teamed up with Phunware to develop an app that will make it easier for patients and visitors to navigate hospital spaces, and it has also developed an alert system that can be used to notify security about injuries or other emergency situations. The company’s Bluetooth Low Energy beacons can be integrated into badges, fobs, and disposable wristbands.
While the healthcare industry offers some of the more obvious applications, HID’s Location Services can be utilized in any complex where people might get lost. It can also be used to support other services in smart buildings.
