The GSMA has unveiled the first details of next year’s Mobile World Congress, including its overarching theme: “Creating a Better Future”.
The event will once again take place in Barcelona’s Fira Gran Via venue, with additional events in Fira Montjuïc. The GSMA anticipates 108,000 guests for the event, and the participation of over 2,300 companies, including big names like Facebook, Ericsson, Google, Microsoft, NTT DoCoMo, and Nokia.
MWC 2018’s conference programme will cover key topics ranging from privacy and security to sustainable development to the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’. GSMA Innovation City will make its return, as will the Youth Mobile Festival and the forward-looking NEXTech Hall, which the GSMA says will feature cutting-edge technology in areas like AI, robotics, and the IoT.
As always, MWC 2018 should offer a wide range of mobile-focused companies to showcase exciting new technologies, and offer new opportunities for collaboration and cross-industry innovation. It could also get a bit of added dynamism carried over from the first-ever Mobile World Congress Americas, scheduled for this September, which will itself feature big name like IBM and even Coca-Cola.
The 2018 Mobile World Congress will run from February 26th to March 1st.
