This year’s Mobile World Congress Shanghai will once again feature GSMA Innovation City, organizers have announced.
Focused largely on product and service demonstrations and immersive experiences, GSMA Innovation City has proven to be a big hit over the past five years; in a statement, GSMA Chief Marketing Officer Michael O’Hara said it’s “always one of the biggest draws” of MWC. Companies set to participate in this year’s GSMA Innovation City include big names like HID Global, Huawei, and PayPal.
As for the demos themselves, there are some interesting ideas in the works. A smart burger restaurant will let customers order food with RCS messaging, for example, while Korea Telecom will let users try a VR skiing game. A McClaren 570S sports car will also be present to showcase connected car technology. The user experience is expected to be a central focus in these and the rest of the demos, given that ‘The Human Element’ will be the key theme of this year’s MWC.
GSMA Innovation City will run from June 28th to June 30th in Hall W3 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
