The GSMA is letting guests know what they should expect at the upcoming MWC 2020 event in Barcelona, disclosing a massive trove of information that includes details about keynote speakers, topics for the Women4Tech Summit, MWC Tours, and the GSMA’s technology initiatives.
MWC Barcelona will run from February 24-27, with individual events taking place in the Fira Gran Via, Fira Montjuïc, and La Farga L’Hospitalet venues.
“Our vision at the GSMA is to unlock the full power of connectivity so that people, industry and society thrive, said GSMA CEO John Hoffman. “Over 100,000 participants will explore and experience how the mobile industry will continue to transform our everyday lives.”
The roster of keynote speakers includes the CEOs of VMware, Darktrace and Kaspersky. The Women4Tech Summit, meanwhile, is returning for the fourth consecutive year, and will continue to advocate for inclusion and diversity with topics like “Calling Out Unconscious Bias in Business,” “Understanding the Business Imperative for LGBTQ Equality in the Workplace,” and “Addressing the AI Diversity Crisis.”
Other GSMA initiatives include the Biometric Recognition Easy Entry Zone (BREEZ), an opt-in service that allows guests to enter the event with biometrics rather than an ID or a badge. BREEZ debuted in 2019, when 40 percent of guests took advantage of the feature. The GSMA will also work to reduce environmental footprint and continue to operate as the world’s Largest Carbon Neutral Trade Show.
The xside experience will examine the overlap of art and technology as part of the 4YFN verticals, with musical performances from Honey Dijon, Folamour, and Jamz Supernova, amongst several others. MWC Tour topics will include 5G and IoT, Retail and Digital Commerce, and Transformative AI.
The GSMA revealed the theme for MWC Barcelona back in October, announcing that the “Limitless Intelligent Connectivity” heading would cover AI, 5G, Big Data, and IoT technology.
