“In announcing the acquisition, HID Global framed HydrantID’s platform as a complement to its own IdenTrust digital certificate platform.”
HID Global has made its latest strategic acquisition, with Salt Lake City-based HydrantID coming into the fold.
The latter specializes in offering Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions, primarily revolving around the issuance of digital certificates for networks and Internet of Things devices. The company says it has so far issued more than three million PKI credentials and has helped to secure more than 125,000 domains.
In announcing the acquisition, HID Global framed HydrantID’s platform as a complement to its own IdenTrust digital certificate platform. IdenTrust was named the world’s top digital certificate authority by W3Techs earlier this year, and went on to attain compliance with the SAFE-BioPharma Association’s digital identity and signature standards.
“We are evolving HID’s Identity and Access Management business to provide one-stop solutions for PKI services across the enterprise,” elaborated HID Global CEO Stefan Widing in a statement announcing the move. “With the acquisition of HydrantID, we are now able to offer enterprise customers a broader range of options, plus the flexibility and scalability of PKI-as-a-service to improve information security.”
In terms of HID Global’s organizational structure, HydrantID will be integrated into HID Global’s Identity and Access Management division, under the leadership of VP and Managing Director Brad Jarvis. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
