Cryptocurrency security specialist Hilltop Cybersecurity may soon have a big new client. The company has announced that it has received a letter of intent for an order valued at over $1 million.
In a statement announcing the potential deal, Hilltop said it comes from Island Mining, a Japan-based firm “focused on cryptocurrency technology and cryptocurrency mining.” The company identified Island Mining’s CEO as Christopher Filiatrault, who commented, “Island Mining has been researching cyber-security companies and looking into different solutions but ultimately chose Hilltop as they can provide the products, services and support our company needs.”
At the time of writing, Island Mining does not appear to have a corporate website. Mr. Filiatrault’s LinkedIn profile lists his current occupation as the CEO of Blockchain Intelligence Group, and the Chairman of Tokyo-based Bitmaster Financial Inc.
“Further details about the proposed transaction will be provided in a comprehensive news release if and when the parties enter into a definitive agreement,” Hilltop’s statement concluded.
The company’s announcement comes soon after its news that Pete Herzog, a ‘white hat’ hacker, has joined Hilltop as its new Chief Information Security Officer. Herzog has replaced former CISO and COO Tom Gilmore; Hilltop is currently looking to fill the role of Chief Operating Officer.
