Another new smartphone from Huawei features biometric technology from Fingerprint Cards. The Honor 8 Smart features an FPC1025 fingerprint sensor.
The device is a sequel to, of course, the original Honor 8, which launched right around the time that FPC’s new CEO, Christian Fredrikson, took the helm in August. As per mobile industry trends, the Honor 8 Smart retains largely the same technical specifications of its previous iteration, though it does have a different sensor model, with the Honor 8 having used an FPC1035 sensor. The Honor 7 and 7i, meanwhile, each featured an FPC1145 sensor.
Model variation aside, it’s no surprise to see Huawei sticking with FPC for its mobile fingerprint sensors. The China-based OEM has been one of FPC’s longtime, repeat customers, and it’s a fair bet that more integrations are in the pipeline.
