Huami has announced a partnership with the Chinese Athletics Association (CAA) in a formal agreement that will see the two sides team up to develop smart wearable devices.
“The official partnership will promote the sports spirit and healthy lifestyle to the whole society, which also has a positive impact on building a leading sports nation,” said Yu Hongchen, the Vice President of Chinese Athletics Association.
As per the partnership, Huami has become the official supplier of smartphones and smart wearables for the CAA. In addition, the Humai Amazfit Stratos 3 smartwatch and the Amazfit PowerBuds earphones will be a part of the first batch of “Chinese Athletics Team Officially Recommended Smart Wearable Products.”
The two sides will also be setting up a joint ‘healthy lifestyle’ laboratory for track and field that will study data generated from Huami smart wearable devices worn by Chinese athletes and produce research reports and standards guides aimed at promoting healthier and more effective athletic training.
The partnership is expected to last until 2025, during which time Huami and the CAA will participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (now delayed to 2021 because of COVID-19), the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the 2021 World Athletics Championships, the 2022 Asian Games, and the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
