Daon continues to look beyond the air travel industry with its new VeriFLY health passport application. This time around, the company is targeting the hospitality business after revealing that the Hyatt Hotels Corporation will be testing the VeriFLY + Stay solution to ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff.
VeriFLY + Stay is a modified version of the standard VeriFLY app that has been optimized for hospitality clients. Both versions give users a discreet and secure way to share their COVID-19 status, whether that refers to a negative test result or proof of vaccination.
In practice, Hyatt representatives will work with meeting planners to set the health requirements for in-person events. They can then use VeriFLY to communicate those requirements to the attendees, giving them time to get the necessary documentation in order. When they arrive, they will be able to use VeriFLY to display a green checkmark and prove that they are free of COVID-19 without disclosing any other personal information. The health passports can also be used to screen hotel employees and other guests.
“Since the onset of the pandemic, we have believed that accessibility to testing and resources would play a critical role in the travel industry’s recovery,” said Hyatt Global Operations SVP Frank Lavey. “Collaborating with Daon to test VeriFLY + Stay furthers our commitment to our guests’ and colleagues’ wellbeing and represents an important step in providing peace of mind to meeting attendees before, during and after an event.”
Daon and Hyatt are hoping that VeriFLY + Stay will help make people feel safer as in-person events resume in the wake of the pandemic. In that regard, Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center has also announced that it will use VeriFLY to improve health outcomes once the venue is able to re-open.
As it stands, VeriFLY has already been used to screen tens of thousands of individuals since January 1. Airlines have been particularly enthusiastic about the app, with American Airlines and British Airways both providing coverage on all incoming flights to their respective countries.
