IDEX will showcase its biometric sensor for smart cards at this year’s Money20/20.
The announcement comes soon after IDEX announced it had started sampling its smart card sensors at the end of September, with IDEX now reporting in a statement that it is receiving “excellent feedback” from its partners.
The company has also revealed some further details on its solution, a central one being that it has “passed critical energy harvesting tests needed to meet the ISO14443 standard”, which means clients will be able to incorporate the solution into contactless cards featuring “standard class 1 Antenna and NFC power management.” IDEX says the solution consumers less than 25mW of energy when performing a biometric scan, and that its ASIC chip “supports securely encrypted communication”.
IDEX is performing its sampling at a time of intense excitement in the emerging biometric smart card market, with other biometrics specialists like Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics also pioneering their own solutions. IDEX should therefore see considerable interest when it showcases its biometric smart card technology at Money20/20, which will run from October 22nd to 25th in Las Vegas.
