IDEX has received a new order for its off-chip fingerprint sensors for smart card applications.
The company did not name its client in a statement announcing the order, but called it “a major Asian authentication and security card customer.” Elaborating further, IDEX CEO Hemant Mardia said the client is “a high-volume producer with a strong global market footprint” that targets market sectors including “government, telecom, financial services and corporate customers.”
News of the order comes soon after IDEX announced its flexible, low-power fingerprint sensor for NFC smart cards, and in the same week that the company has announced a refined matching algorithm designed specifically for smart card applications.
The company says that its new order is expected to ship in the second half of this year, with Mardia anticipating that IDEX will “sample additional customers” in this same period.
