IDEX Biometrics has teamed up with Agnisys to further its development of fingerprint security for a range of next-generation IoT devices. IDEX will specifically be using Agnisys’s IDesignSpec software solution, which will automatically generate much of the code and documentation needed to realize such products and allow researchers to use their time more efficiently.
“IDesignSpec has been extremely beneficial,” said IDEX Digital Design Manager Rick Wanzenried. “We were able to start from an Excel spreadsheet and use IDesignSpec to create documentation, software header files, verification widgets and RTL code, all of which were changed at the same time. This has saved many engineering hours, as we have been able to flawlessly maintain our design and documentation.”
As a provider of fingerprint recognition tech, IDEX biometrics is perhaps best known for its efforts with biometric cards. However, the company has been actively exploring other aspects of the Internet of Things in recent months, arguing that biometric authentication (including fingerprint authentication) will be an integral part of IoT security.
The partnership with Agnisys is in keeping with its efforts to shape that conversation from the onset. As it stands, IDEX is already well positioned as a key player in the market, and is likely to find more applications for its technology as the IoT continues to expand.
