Imprivata and Microsoft Team Up for Healthcare Access Management

May 1, 2019

“The single sign-on solution should ease the transition to Electronic Medical Records, and is also secure enough to meet the DEA’s requirements for electronic prescriptions.”

Imprivata and Microsoft Team Up for Healthcare Access Management

Imprivata has partnered with Microsoft to launch a new cloud-based identity and access management solution that will simplify workflows for healthcare providers. Dubbed Healthcare Seamless SSO, the new platform leverages Imprivata OneSign to allow healthcare employees to use their badges to tap into Office 365 or any other app linked to Microsoft’s Azure Active Directory at a supported workstation or mobile device.

“Imprivata has made great strides expanding on its proven, industry-leading solutions by integrating with Microsoft Azure Active Directory to help healthcare organizations leverage the cloud to lower costs,” said Microsoft Health & Life Sciences VP Chris Sakalosky. “This is the type of technological solution that we’re proud to offer to our healthcare customers.”

Healthcare Seamless SSO was designed to reduce the amount of administrative busywork for healthcare enterprises and make it easier for clinics to update their digital infrastructure. The single sign-on solution should ease the transition to Electronic Medical Records, and is also secure enough to meet the DEA’s requirements for electronic prescriptions.

That last bit is particularly important given the prevalence of outdated (and vulnerable) legacy systems in healthcare organizations. Imprivata has previously emphasized the importance of reliable patient identification to reduce harm in a clinical environment.
