Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) has implemented a significant update to its “MY KUWAIT ID” mobile application, introducing three distinct verification levels to enhance security and protect user data. The update aligns with Kuwait’s Vision 2035 digital transformation initiative, which emphasizes digital identity and biometric technology in modernizing government services.
The application’s new verification system comprises three tiers. The Medium level, which requires manual data entry registration, provides access to card verification and government document portfolio features. The High level, which is most commonly used, requires registration through NFC scanning of civil ID cards and enables access to civil ID features. The Verified level, achieved through registration via self-service devices, offers the highest level of verification and grants users access to all application features.
PACI has designed these verification levels to maintain robust security standards throughout the registration and verification processes. The enhanced mobile ID system enables users to access government services, sign documents electronically, and complete transactions without requiring a physical Civil ID card.
Kuwait’s digital transformation efforts are supported by several international partnerships. Technology company Zain is implementing PACI’s Kuwait Mobile ID app for secure digital identity verification. Thales has collaborated with PACI in establishing the country’s national eID system, while the integration of Gemalto’s multi-app eID cards, utilizing both contact and contactless smart card technologies, facilitates secure digital services across government, banking, and private sector applications.
