“Also worth noting is an improved system for processing biometric authentication data that splits the load between a given device’s applications processor and its GPU, which has significantly cut the processing time in the authentications process.”
Sensory has launched the latest version of its TrulySecure authentication system that includes 3D camera support and an upgraded AI system.
At a time when imaging is an area of intensifying focus for smartphone makers, the 3D and infrared camera support is crucial, allowing TrulySecure 4.0’s facial recognition technology to move beyond 2D face imaging and to counter spoofing attacks even more effectively. Developed in collaboration with Germany’s PMD Technologies, the functionality is based on 3D Time-of-Flight, CMOS-based imaging technology, which is used to support 3D imaging across a number of devices. Infrared support, meanwhile, enables face scanning in extremely dark conditions.
As for the enhanced AI system of TrulySecure 4.0, this will also shine in the platform’s use of facial recognition. In a statement announcing the upgrade, Sensory asserted that its AI has now been “trained on a data set that is an order of magnitude larger than the previous generation,” and that this has “improved 2D facial recognition accuracy more than 50 percent.”
Also worth noting is an improved system for processing biometric authentication data that splits the load between a given device’s applications processor and its GPU, which has significantly cut the processing time in the authentications process. And authentication via the cloud has been sped up, too, with TrulySecure 4.0 now able to handle preliminary steps like feature extraction and liveness detection on edge devices, reducing the data load that needs to be sent to the external server.
All told, it’s an upgrade that should help TrulySecure to retain its position as a leading multimodal authentication platform in the age of selfie-based security.
