“The combination of AIMe and GoVerifyIDs biometric platform is a powerful combination that will help further assure that the correct health record is being tied to the right patient.” – Jim Miller, CEO, ImageWare
ImageWare‘s biometric technology will extend its reach into the healthcare sector with a new integration via LifeMed ID. The companies have announced that the latter’s Authoritative Identity Management Exchange (AIMe) platform will leverage ImageWare’s GoVerifyID multi-factor biometric authentication system.
In a statement announcing the integration, LifeMed ID Co-CEO Rick Resnick explained that the main aim of the integration is to “eliminate manual processes that are the source of serious errors and continued creation of duplicate medical records.” More broadly, though, the combined offering will ensure that healthcare organizations “have the means to assure that every patient will have one identity permanently linked to the correct medical record across all points of care,” Resnick added.
Elaborating further, ImageWare CEO Jim Miller noted that “the risk of medical identity fraud is drastically reduced using biometric authentication.”
The integration’s announcement comes after ImageWare upgraded GoVerifyID at the end of last year with the capability of supporting palm image recognition and PIN-based authentication. Other modalities supported by the platform include facial, fingerprint, and voice recognition.
