On Demand Connectivity is Gemalto’s eSIM provisioning platform. It’s designed to enable to comprehensive, remote administration of eSIM cards for devices, throughout the life cycle, with particular applications for the various devices emerging with the Internet of Things. Given that Windows 10 is designed to offer native eSIM support, the partnership means that any IoT devices running Microsoft’s operating system will be compatible with Gemalto’s eSIM provisioning solution.

In a statement announcing the collaboration, Gemalto indicated that it expects the “first wave” of On Demand Connectivity-compatible Windows 10 devices to hit the market “this holiday 2017.” Meanwhile, Gemalto SVP of Mobile Services and IoT Americas Rodrigo Serna said his company “will continue to work closely with Microsoft and the GSMA to further these advancements while protecting the security of end users”.

Gemalto’s eSIM provisioning solution was also recently embraced by Norwegian IoT/M2M operator Com4 and APAC/EMEA MNO consortium Bridge Alliance.
