Tech industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is reporting that Apple will release new iPad Pro models sometime in the first half of 2020. The new iPads will be equipped with a rear-facing camera system and time-of-flight technology to give the tablet 3D sensing capabilities.
Kuo also predicts that Apple will be unveiling a new, low-cost model of the iPhone. Unofficially dubbed the iPhone SE 2, the phone will reportedly offer support for Touch ID and provide owners with 64 GB of storage at a $399 price point. The iPhone SE 2 is expected to hit the market in the same 2020 release window as the new iPad.
Of course, this is not the first time that Kuo has detailed Apple’s plans for a 3D sensing iPad. The analyst issued a similar report just over a year ago, and would seem to be reaffirming that previous prediction with this latest follow-up.
Kuo has proven to be a savvy Apple prognosticator for the past few years, correctly predicting that Apple would ditch Touch ID in favor of Face ID on the 2018 version of the iPhone. The Apple expert has since predicted that Apple will reintroduce Touch ID on future models, with Bloomberg echoing that particular iPhone rumor.
