MWC Barcelona: Three New Nokia Smartphones Feature Sensory’s TrulySecure Face Biometrics

Mobile World Congress 2019 is a hub of biometrics and mobile authentication news this week, and adding to the strong authentication buzz is the announcement of three new smartphone integrations of Sensory’s TrulySecure authentication software. Three new Nokia smartphones, announced by HMD Global at MWC, leverage Sensory’s biometric technology to enable robust face-unlock features.

The new smartphones –  Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 – are now on-trend thanks to the use of TrulySecure. Since the launch of Apple’s FaceID solution on the iPhone X in 2017, facial recognition has become the most popular authentication modality on the mobile channel, even topping the FindBiometrics Year in Review modality survey for two consecutive years.

Sensory’s FIDO Certified authentication software ensures sensitive data – biometric profiles stored as “highly encrypted irreversible code” – never leave a user’s device, and thanks to its contactless nature, enables a convenient and secure user experience.

“Data and device security are extremely important decision factors when it comes to purchasing a smartphone,” said Todd Mozer, CEO at Sensory. “We’re excited to be working with HMD Global to outfit the latest Nokia smartphones with powerful on-device facial recognition-based authentication. Our technology offers users an extremely convenient means of unlocking their devices and apps, while offering extreme protection against intruders.”

TrulySecure has been quick to adapt in the constantly evolving mobile biometrics landscape, the latest version of the software having been upgraded to support 3D and infrared cameras which are expected to proliferate across next gen smartphones.

Mobile ID World’s Susan Stover is reporting live from Mobile World Congress this week, and she spoke to Mozer about the Nokia integrations, as well as Sensory’s embedded AI technologies and the cutting edge technologies it’s developing.
