Calgary Scientific has issued a new white paper highlighting the transformative effects of mobile technology on remote healthcare. The report, entitled “The Road to Telehealth 2.0 is Mobile”, is available on the company’s website.
Speaking in a press release, Calgary Scientific CTO Pierre Lemire asserted that the capabilities of mobile technology’s “access to information and expertise are ideally suited to the needs of health care,” adding that apps “such as telestroke that integrate mobile image viewing capabilities have been proven to save valuable minutes in accessing images, thereby cutting the time it takes to begin diagnosis.” Indeed, the company has long held the stance that mobile technology is spurring something of a revolution in remote care, and major educational and research institutions such as Stanford University have already started to take notice and explore the possibilities seriously.
Moreover, a recent survey by The Economist Intelligence Unit indicated a good deal of optimism about the technology’s potential on the part of leaders in the healthcare field. And for many people, mobile remote care is already making a difference on a personal level through biometrics-monitoring mobile apps such as Apple’s HealthKit.
