Smart glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology supplier Vuzix has partnered with AR enterprise solution provider Librestream to announce an integrated hands-free thermal imaging smart glasses solution.
The solution — a combination of the Vuzix M400 Smart Glasses and Librestream’s Onsight platform — is a potentially vital tool for frontline workers to monitor body temperatures from a safe distance, allowing them to identify individuals with an elevated temperature.
The device includes a ruggedized Cube industrial wearable camera that brings a real-time thermal video feed to the heads-up display of the M400. Frontline workers can share the thermal images with medical experts remotely using the Onsight AR platform, allowing them to control the thermal output, adjust lighting, zoom in or out on the images, and capture and securely store or share images.

The news of the solution comes as the world deals with the outbreak of COVID-19, a virus that has rapidly spread across the globe from mainland China, resulting in the shutdown of industries, the cancellation of events, and the postponement of professional and amatuer sports leagues everywhere.
Providing frontline workers and first-responders with a way to identify potentially infected individuals from a safe distance has the potential to be an important tool in stemming the spread of COVID-19.
