Zwipe has a new Executive Vice President of Strategy and Channels: Bishwajit Choudhary has joined the company’s leadership, bringing with him extensive experience in the digital payments sector.
Before his new appointment, Choudhary spent 20 years with Nets Group, a Denmark-based digital payments solutions provider focused on financial institutions. Choudhary worked his way up from a position as Sales and Business Development Manager to SVP of Corporate Strategy for Nets, a position he held from 2015 to 2019. After that, he spent nine months as the Chief Commercial Officer for UserTribe, a Norwegian company offering data insights about customer interactions, before joining the team at Zwipe.
In announcing Choudhary as Zwipe’s newest EVP, CEO André Løvestam lauded his “deep insights in the payments industry,” which will allow Choudhary to “add a valuable breadth in our payments expertise and lead our strategy and channel development.”
Løvestam also framed the appointment within a larger strategic context as Zwipe hones its focus on particular application areas for its fingerprint biometrics technology.
“With increasing activity in payment cards and wearables in general, and biometrics in particular, and with Zwipe poised to take a technology and cost leadership position in this high potential market, timing is right for Zwipe to complement our growing engagements with our direct customers, the smart card manufacturers, by embarking on a ‘pull strategy’,” Løvestam explained. “This means that we will step up our engagements with banks and neo-banks, as well as new players in card issuance, such as retailers and tech companies.”
The appointment comes after Zwipe delivered a Q1 update last month in which the company suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic hadn’t had any substantial negative impact on its business strategy or operations.
