“The partnership revolves around plans to launch both dual interface and contact-based payment cards in the APAC region.”
NEXT Biometrics has further solidified its footing in the emerging biometric payment cards market with another card manufacturer partnership.
In announcing the development, NEXT Biometrics did not disclose the name of its new partner, but noted that the company is based in Asia and holds certifications from local and international payment brands. The partnership revolves around plans to launch both dual interface and contact-based payment cards in the APAC region.
Commenting on the partnership in a statement, NEXT Biometrics Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faburel called it “another important step towards building a strong network with leading players in the smart card ecosystem to commercialize biometric dual interface technology in the banking sector and beyond.”
The news comes just about a week after NEXT Biometrics issued its Q4 and year-end fiscal update, which saw increased revenues and reduced net loss year-over-year. These results and the company’s business activities – including other partnerships with card makers – pointed to a pivot “from product development to revenue generation”, in the words of CEO Ritu Favre, as NEXT Biometrics prepares to commercialize its technology for biometric cards.
