Gemalto is further securing its position in the Internet of Things market with a new partnership. The company has announced that Com4, a Norwegian IoT/M2M operator, will take advantage of Gemalto’s On-Demand Connectivity solution for eSIM provisioning.
In a statement announcing the partnership, Gemalto indicated that it’s already providing eSIM technology for IoT devices, with On-Demand Connectivity offering a centralized and remote means of managing device registration, subscriptions, and deactivation. The solution also offers a level of standards compliance that evidently appealed to Com4, with CTO Pete Vickers commenting that his company is now “the first IoT operator in Europe to offer customers the peace of mind of a v3.1 GSMA security compliant eSIM subscription management” solution.
The partnership continues Gemalto’s momentum in the IoT eSIM market, with the company having announced earlier this month that a major APAC- and EMEA-focused MNO consortium would embrace On-Demand Connectivity. For its part, Com4 will start taking advantage of On-Demand Connectivity with a smart metering deployment in Norway, and proceed from there.
