Nymi has teamed up with Quuppa in an effort to find new industry use cases for the Nymi Band. The joint solution combines the Band with Quuppa’s Real-Time Locating System (RTLS), which uses Bluetooth technology to monitor the locations of connected devices.
The integration will turn Nymi’s wristbands into asset tags recognized within the Quuppa tracking system. That will allow Quuppa customers to determine the location of the individual employees wearing those wristbands, which will in turn give them a better sense of onsite workflows and procedures. The technology supports contact tracing efforts and promotes worker safety, and could lead to insights and applications that make businesses more efficient.
As always, the Nymi Band can still be used to provide ongoing biometric authentication for employees who need to gain access to work materials. The partnership will also give Quuppa better access to clients in verticals where it does not yet have a foothold, such as pharmaceutical manufacturing.
“In today’s business environments, optimizing workspaces means prioritizing safety,” said Quuppa Regional VP Seth Noone. “To do this, businesses need the most accurate view of activity across floors and offices. In working with Nymi, we’re able to bring our innovative location sensing system into new industries that require these deeper insights.”
“Together, we can provide businesses with the real-time insight needed to optimize workspaces for greater identity assurance, security, productivity and safety” added Nymi VP Andrew Foxcroft.
Nymi emphasized the Nymi Band’s contact tracing capabilities when it released the newest version of the Band in September. To that end, the Nymi Band 3.0 will issue a proximity alert whenever two people are failing to observe social distancing requirements. The company has since launched a new Technology Partner Program to pioneer new use cases for the Band, with HID Global and Rockwell Automation signing on as some of the first members of the initiative.
