“I have spent over twenty years working with leading software and tech businesses and I couldn’t be more optimistic about Onfido’s product and mission.” – Mike Tuchen, CEO, Onfido
One of the biggest names in selfie-based authentication has a new CEO. Onfido has named Mike Tuchen to the position, with company co-founder Husayn Kassai stepping aside, but staying on with the company to act as an advisor.
Tuchen brings to the table a strong background in the tech world. The early phase of his career saw him serve in management positions with companies like Microsoft, Polycom, and Paramark, which he co-founded. From 2008 to 2012, Tuchen was the CEO of IT security specialist Rapid7; and from 2013 to January of this year, he served as the CEO of Talend, a cloud data integration company that went public in 2016.
“I have spent over twenty years working with leading software and tech businesses and I couldn’t be more optimistic about Onfido’s product and mission,” Tuchen said.
At Onfido, Tuchen will have big shoes to fill. Husayn Kassai co-founded the company with Eamon Jubbawy and Ruhul Amin in 2012, and has steered it through considerable growth in the ensuing years – perhaps especially this year, as the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted surging demand for remote onboarding and authentication solutions.
Kassai’s efforts were recognized in September in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, for which he was named the 2020 Young Entrepreneur of the Year for London and the East of England.
“Husayn has built a fantastic team and business and I look forward to building on that success as we rapidly scale the company worldwide and broaden our offering,” commented Tuchen.
For his part, Kassai framed the leadership change as a transition into a new growth phase for the company. “We’re in such a strong position and now it’s the right time to hand the torch over to Mike, with all his experience, to lead the company into the future,” he said.
