Onfido has announced plans to open a new office in Paris as part of a larger growth effort in France.
The news comes in the same week as Onfido’s announcement of a partnership with France-based identity solutions giant IDEMIA, with the latter seeking to enhance its portfolio of online authentication solutions with Onfido’s document verification technology, which combines facial recognition with document reading to confirm the identities of end users via their mobile devices.
On that note, Onfido has also announced new partnerships with two more French companies – Europcar Mobility Group, the operator of a car-sharing rental service; and AR24, France’s first electronic registered mail provider. Both companies are looking to Onfido’s selfie-based approach to facilitate fast and secure verification of their services’ end users.
In a statement, Onfido said it will invest more than €4 million over the next 12 months “building out its French presence,” with CEO and co-founder Husayn Kassai calling Paris “a centre of tech excellence” and “another ideal location in Europe”.
Onfido says its Paris office will open in the first quarter of this year. It will be the seventh of Onfido’s global offices, with other locations including London, Lisbon, New York, and San Francisco.
