OPPO K1 India Launch to Further Expand Reach of In-Display Fingerprint Tech

February 1, 2019

“Other features of the OPPO K1 include a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 660 processor, a 25MP selfie camera, a dual 16MP and 2MP rear-facing camera system, and a 3,600mAh battery.”

OPPO K1 India Launch to Further Expand Reach of In-Display Fingerprint Tech

OPPO’s K1 smartphone will soon launch in India, further spreading the reach of in-display fingerprint sensor technology after the device’s launch in China last autumn.

The news was broken by Indian retailer Flipkart, which revealed that it will start selling the device on February 6th. The smartphone will be priced at Rs. 20,000, or about $281, making it the cheapest smartphone featuring an in-display fingerprint scanner on the market, according to a GizmoChina report.

Other features of the OPPO K1 include a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 660 processor, a 25MP selfie camera, a dual 16MP and 2MP rear-facing camera system, and a 3,600mAh battery. Android 8.1 Oreo is the device’s default operating system.

Arriving in the wake of the OPPO R17, the OPPO K1 is the latest example of the China-based smartphone brand’s commitment to in-display fingerprint sensor technology. It isn’t alone in this enthusiasm, with other players in the mobile market also looking in-display technology to help differentiate their devices and give them a competitive edge – including Samsung, which is expected to make this technology a central selling point of its next flagship Galaxy S smartphone.
