Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced its fee structure for Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) and Child Registration Certificates (B-Form) effective January 2025, maintaining current rates while introducing enhanced security features for child documentation. The announcement advances NADRA’s ongoing digital identity transformation efforts that have made digital ID a fundamental part of Pakistani citizens’ daily lives.
The standard fee for a new Smart National Identity Card remains at Rs750, with urgent processing available at Rs1,500 and an executive category option at Rs2,500. For B-Forms, the normal processing fee continues at Rs50, while executive services are available for Rs500. The digital identity documents are part of Pakistan’s comprehensive national ID system, which has become increasingly important for combating fraud and ensuring secure access to government services.
“One’s ID card is important for a driving license, NTN, bank account, passport, or even a mobile connection,” said Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi. “It also connects with healthcare and education, which makes it a very important document in daily life.” The integration of digital identity has become particularly significant as Pakistan strengthens its fight against digital fraud and identity theft.
A significant update to the B-Form system will commence on January 15, 2025, with the introduction of enhanced security features for children aged 10 and above. The new forms will incorporate thumb impressions and photographs, implementing additional measures to prevent identity misuse. The enhancement follows NADRA’s broader initiative to modernize its identity verification systems, including the recent launch of a mobile registration app for the national ID program.
The application process for both documents continues to require in-person visits to NADRA Registration Centres. CNIC applicants must provide a birth certificate or matric result card, along with a CNIC copy from a family member. B-Form applications require proof of the child’s birth from the Union Council office and valid identification from at least one parent or legal guardian, either a National Identity Card or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). The requirements support NADRA’s mission to maintain the integrity of Pakistan’s national identity system while ensuring accessibility for all citizens.
