A Chinese ecommerce platform provider has announced Apple Pay support. The company, PayEase, will support business apps that are themselves integrating support for the mPayment platform.
PayEase works with vendors to facilitate online and mobile payment functionality, offering support for 23 state banks and China UnionPay, as well as foreign bank cards issued by partners including MasterCard, Visa, JCB, and AE. As such, it could prove to be an important partner for Apple Pay as the US-based mPayment platform makes it China debut, seeking to establish a foothold in a highly saturated market.
In a statement announcing the support, PayEase highlighted the security and privacy of Apple Pay, noting its use of Secure Element encryption and one-time password technology for transaction authorizations. Moreover, PayEase General Manager Kino Kwok emphasized his organization’s anticipation of success for Apple Pay, stating, “We strongly believe that Apple Pay will become widely used and are very happy to support merchants accepting this more secure and convenient new payment platform.”
It is perhaps a valuable show of support as Apple Pay seeks to consolidate its position in anticipation of the China launch of rival platform Samsung Pay.
