The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has formed a strategic partnership with Asia United Bank (AUB) to enhance the accessibility of National ID registration services across the Philippines. The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) establishing a colocation strategy for mobile registration activities under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), marking another significant step in the country’s ambitious digital identity program that has already registered over 66 million citizens.
Under the agreement, AUB will provide its branch facilities as hosting locations for PSA’s mobile registration services, creating additional access points for citizens seeking to register for the National ID. The collaboration is designed to expand the reach of registration services, particularly in remote and underserved areas, building upon the PSA’s ongoing efforts to partner with private sector entities to strengthen the national ID infrastructure.
The partnership extends PSA’s existing mobile registration programs, including “PhilSys on Wheels” and “PhilSys on Boat,” which have been instrumental in bringing registration services to far-flung communities. By working with AUB’s branch network, the PSA aims to streamline the registration process and increase efficiency in service delivery. The expansion comes as the Philippines continues to advance its digital national ID program, which includes both physical and digital ID credentials.
As part of the partnership, an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign will be implemented to raise public awareness about the National ID registration process and its benefits. The educational component aims to ensure eligible citizens understand the registration requirements and advantages of participating in the PhilSys program, which serves as a foundational identity system for accessing government services and financial inclusion initiatives.
The colocation strategy strengthens PSA’s existing efforts to make National ID registration more accessible to Filipino citizens across the archipelago. The approach supports the government’s broader strategy to accelerate the adoption of mobile ID technology while ensuring comprehensive coverage across the nation’s diverse geographic landscape. The partnership with AUB adds to the infrastructure supporting the nationwide implementation of the Philippine Identification System, which aims to provide all citizens with secure, verifiable identification credentials.
