The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has announced a strategic partnership with MOSIP (Modular Open Source Identity Platform) to host MOSIP Connect 2025, an international digital identity conference. The collaboration aims to strengthen the Philippines’ digital identity infrastructure while fostering global knowledge exchange in identity management, building upon the country’s successful rollout of 84 million digital IDs that have already facilitated over 100 million transactions.
The partnership focuses on implementing MOSIP’s open-source identity platform to enhance the Philippines’ existing digital identity ecosystem, known as PhilSys. The integration follows the PSA’s ongoing efforts to expand digital identity services, including the launch of the Digital National ID in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The integration of MOSIP’s platform into the Philippines’ digital identity infrastructure will deliver a more robust and secure system for identity verification and management. The enhancement supports the PSA’s strategy of engaging private sector partners to expand the applications of the national ID system, particularly in improving the delivery of government services, border management, and other sectors requiring reliable identity verification systems.
The upcoming event will feature presentations and discussions from international digital identity experts, focusing on emerging trends, technological challenges, and implementation strategies in the field. The conference will build on the Philippines’ experience with mobile identity solutions, including the country’s accelerated adoption of mobile ID technology. While specific dates for MOSIP Connect 2025 have not been announced, the event will bring together stakeholders from both public and private sectors.
The initiative represents a significant step in the ongoing development of digital identity solutions in the Philippines, complementing recent developments such as the expansion of the eGovPH mobile application with new features for improved access to government services. The implementation of MOSIP’s open-source platform follows similar successful deployments in other countries, including Peru’s digital ID pilot program.
