The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) of the Philippines has expanded its eGovPH mobile application with new features focused on improving access to government services, including eReport and e-Travel systems. The expansion advances the country’s broader digital transformation initiatives, which include the recent launch of the Digital National ID system.
The eReport system enables users to submit various concerns through a streamlined interface. “Citizens can report issues with just a simple click,” said DICT representative Almirol through the eGov Super App, marking a significant step forward in digital citizen engagement.
The e-Travel feature creates a unified digital platform for managing entry and exit procedures for passengers traveling to and from the Philippines. The system supports a broader initiative to enhance digital services for overseas Filipinos, including integration with Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) services. The development supports the government’s efforts to digitize services for its overseas citizens, including recent initiatives for digital voter identification.
The latest update (Phase 11, Version 2.5.1) of the eGovPH app introduces several AI-powered capabilities, including Identity AI for verification processes, Open AI for improved accessibility, and programming tools with AI functionality. The update also features an enhanced user interface for Foreign Mobile ID and strengthened QR code verification validation, building upon the country’s existing digital identity infrastructure that was first introduced in 2022.
User feedback for the eGovPH app has highlighted its modern interface and comprehensive service offerings. Users have suggested additional features, such as integration of government-issued identification cards including national ID, Social Security System (SSS) ID, Philhealth, and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) credentials. The suggestions complement the DICT’s ongoing efforts to create a more comprehensive digital identity ecosystem.
The application collects various types of user data, including financial information, location data, contact details, user content, identifiers, and usage statistics. The DICT notes that privacy practices may vary depending on feature usage and user age, demonstrating the government’s commitment to transparent data handling practices while digitizing public services.
