Precise Biometrics has found its next Chief Financial Officer in Annika Freij, who will assume the role no later than August 19 of this year.
Holding a Master of Business Administration degree from Lund University in Sweden, Freij kickstarted her career with Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, where she started as a Business Control Manager in Taiwan in 2007 and ended her term in the position of Team Leader, Cost of Sales Business Control, in Sweden in 2011. From there she went on to serve as Regional Finance Manager for Axis Communications AB, a position she would hold over the next decade.
“Annika has extensive experience in financial management and long-term financial planning in large international technology companies,” said Precise Biometrics CEO Stefan K. Persson. “Together with her strong leadership qualities, this makes her a suitable CFO and a great addition to the management of Precise.”
In joining the biometrics specialist, Freij will replace Ulrik Nilsson, who has served as the company’s CFO since September of 2018. Precise Biometrics announced earlier this year that Nilsson would be leaving to pursue “new challenges outside the company,” but Nilsson had agreed to stay on until the third quarter as Precise looked for his replacement.
Freij is joining Precise at a time of transition. While the mobile biometrics sector remains a key focus area for the company, it has been actively exploring new opportunities in the area of access control, and in the emerging biometric payment cards market. Last month brought the news that KONA I had received a Vendor Letter of Approval from Mastercard for its new biometric card solution, which features Precise Biometrics technology.
“Precise is a technology company with innovation at the core and the company has a strong drive towards development and growth – which I appreciate,” Freij explained. “I look forward to my new role and to be part of the exciting growth journey ahead.”
