Privacera is looking to streamline identity management procedures for organizations that need to navigate an increasingly complex cloud environment. To that end, the company has introduced support for a number of authentication tools, including Okta and Azure AD.
Digging into the details, Privacera will now allow users to import user identities from the LDAP, Active Directory, and Azure AD platforms, and from single sign-on platforms that support the OAuth and SAML protocols. Those users will also be able to use the SCIM protocol to automate the provisioning of users from a number of identity providers, and from Okta in particular.
Privacera itself is a cloud data governance specialist, and is trying to address the growing need for solutions that can facilitate the secure exchange of data across multiple cloud platforms. As it stands, IT departments often need to manage user permissions manually, through a process that is both time consuming and vulnerable to human error.
The updated PrivaceraCloud will allow organizations to automate some of those procedures, and manage an entire cloud network from a single centralized location. In doing so, it will help reduce the threat of data breaches while making it easier for authorized employees to gain access to important workplace materials once their identities have been verified.
“As the proliferation of cloud adoption continues, reducing risk and protecting the privacy of our customers remains a critical priority,” said Privacera Engineering VP Selva Neethiraj. “PrivaceraCloud connects identity data from authentication systems to authorization entitlements, so the two are always in sync, to help enterprises optimize security and minimize the risk of data breaches.”
Privacera noted that a full 45 percent of IT spending is expected to shift to the cloud by 2024. Okta, meanwhile, recently released a new Devices SDK that allows organizations to add passwordless authentication to their applications. Several financial institutions have also used the company’s Identity Cloud to deliver a better digital experience.
