“Nuance says that 70 percent of radiologists working in the US already use its PowerScribe radiology reporting and PowerShare image exchange network, which provides valuable data for its AI Marketplace.”
Nuance Communications has teamed up with Partners HealthCare to develop AI-based solutions for radiologists.
The aim is to automate many of day-to-day tasks of radiologists. Nuance and Partners HealthCare took the opportunity of last week’s HIMSS 2018 conference to announce that they will work together with Massachusetts General Hospital, the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Center for Clinical Data Science, and current supporters of the Nuance AI Marketplace for Diagnostic Imaging including the American College of Radiology and NVIDIA.
Nuance says that 70 percent of radiologists working in the US already use its PowerScribe radiology reporting and PowerShare image exchange network, which provides valuable data for its AI Marketplace. Ultimately, the aim is to bring the AI algorithms developed in collaboration with Partners HealthCare to the AI Marketplace, where they can be accessed by radiologists through the PowerScribe platform.
The partnership offers the latest indication of Nuance’s interest in the medical sector, where its Dragon Medical cloud platform proved to be an important driver of revenues in a fiscal update issued near the end of last year. The company also launched a new edition of its Dragon Medical Practice clinical use speech recognition platform in January.
