Samsung Offers Smart Home Tech for Famous Christmas Lights Group

Samsung is taking advantage of holiday festivities to show off its smart home solutions.

Samsung Offers Smart Home Tech for Famous Christmas Lights GroupThe company has teamed up with The Miracle on South 13th Street in Philadelphia, a community organization renowned for the elaborate Christmas lights and holiday decorations it sets up every year. Residents have been provided with Samsung SmartThings Outlets, Z-Wave Plug-In Outdoor Smart Switches from partner GE, and the Samsung SmartThings Hub, allowing them to manage their Christmas lights remotely and easily via a mobile app.

While the light displays themselves draw attention to the neighborhood, Samsung’s contributions are meant to highlight its SmartThings ecosystem, which extends well beyond lighting options. For example, the SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor can be used to monitor when a certain door has been opened, while the SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit and Water Sensor can help users check up on their homes’ pipes while they’re away this winter.

With rivals like Apple and Amazon seeking to establish their own products as the hubs of consumers’ smart homes, Samsung is clearly doing what it can to leverage the holiday season to stake out a market position for itself as consumers grow increasingly interested in the smart home concept.
