Digital mobile security solutions provider Oberthur Technologies recently announced a partnership with SecureKey that will see a range of GSMA Mobile Connect compliant solutions brought to market.
“OT is a strong supporter of the GSMA Mobile Connect efforts to provide consumers with safe, secure and easy access to the online services they need,” explains Laurent Demey, Oberthur’s deputy managing director of its Solutions Business Unit. “This is why we’re working with identity and authentication leaders like SecureKey to develop flexible solutions that empower consumers to take advantage of Mobile Connect on any device. The SecureKey collaboration will enable us to take a comprehensive Mobile Connect-based solution to market for our mobile operator customers, providing a range of both hardware and software security options.”
The solutions resulting from the collaboration will be based on SecureKey’s briidge.net Connect platform and leverage Oberthur’s secure element-based security expertise. The goal is, as with all things mobile ID, an increased level of security that also brings with it a great amount of convenience: a smartphone authentication solution that requires no passwords or usernames.
“Consumers will gain greater convenience through the elimination of passwords,” says Robert Blumenthal, EVP of business development at SecureKey. ”Also, online service providers will have faster registrations and lower drop-outs in addition to better business confidence of user authenticity while telecom companies will increase consumer stickiness and drive new revenue streams through user authentication services.”
This year, Mobile ID World has reported on a wide range of Oberthur news. At CARTES America in the spring, the company took home a SESAMES Award in the category of Emerging Payments.
