“Under the terms of the acquisition, Vocalize.ai will continue to operate as an independent company while testing Sensory’s solutions, and will also offer discounted services to Sensory’s clients.”
Sensory, Inc. has acquired an independent evaluation service for speech recognition technology, a move aimed at enhancing its ability to refine its voice-based solutions.
The acquisition, Vocalize.ai, is a Silicon Valley firm that offers “benchmarking, accuracy assessments and bias evaluations” for these kind of technologies, according to a statement announcing the deal. Under the terms of the acquisition, Vocalize.ai will continue to operate as an independent company while testing Sensory’s solutions, and will also offer discounted services to Sensory’s clients.
Commenting on the acquisition, Sensory CEO Todd Mozer explained that his company has always done in-house testing of its technologies, but has come to recognize the need for evaluation from a third party “that wasn’t influenced by our data or testing methods, that could also provide more real world, black-box testing.” Mozer added that Vocalize.ai has already demonstrated its expertise for Sensory, asserting that it “was in fact tremendously helpful in shaping our new TrulyHandsfree 6.0 release,” Sensory’s speech recognition platform.
The company did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition. Its announcement comes just over a month after Sensory’s launch of its new Sound ID sound-based home security solution, and a smart speaker reference design called VoiceGenie.
