Sensory’s Wake Word Tech Enhances AI Assistant for Hotels

June 14, 2018

“…Roxy suggested that this functionality could help to prevent the kind of wake word error that recently resulted in a couple’s private conversation being recorded and sent to an acquaintance.”

A voice-based AI assistant designed for hotel rooms will get a little smarter thanks to Sensory‘s wake word solution, TrulyHandsfree.Sensory's Wake Word Tech Enhances AI Assistant for Hotels

Roxy is essentially a kind of Amazon Echo device for the hotel room, designed to offer guests AI-powered concierge services by responding to queries like “What are some good local coffee shops?” or “How do I get access to wifi?” And thanks to a partnership with Sensory, hotels using Roxy will soon be able to program custom wake words for the device, such as “Okay, Hilton” or “Hey Hyatt.”

In a statement announcing the partnership, Roxy suggested that this functionality could help to prevent the kind of wake word error that recently resulted in a couple’s private conversation being recorded and sent to an acquaintance. But the real advantage of incorporating Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree functionality lies in the extra value it adds to Roxy for the company’s hotelier clients. Calling TrulyHandsfree “the most cutting-edge wake word technology available today,” Roxy CEO Cam Urban said that by embracing it Roxy is “able to continue to advance what is possible in terms of offering hotels end-to-end customization that uniquely represents their brand.”

For Sensory, the partnership is a notable new hardware integration after the company’s strong focus on enhancing the mobile software capabilities of TrulyHandsfree in recent months. Roxy, meanwhile, will showcase its solution at next week’s HITEC conference in Houston, Texas.
