Services Australia has integrated veteran services into the myGov application, allowing 300,000 veteran card holders to access their benefits digitally.
Through a partnership with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), former armed personnel can now access their veteran cards, which provide funded treatment for medical and mental health conditions.
The DVA’s MyService platform is also accessible via myGov, enabling veterans to manage pensions and health claims. The development follows a AUD $580 million funding boost in the federal budget to enhance myGov’s capabilities.
The integration of veteran services into myGov aims to streamline access to essential services for former armed personnel. Veteran cards, which include white and gold cards, are now available digitally alongside Medicare, Centrelink, and international Covid-19 vaccination certificates within the app. The move is part of a broader effort to enhance digital service delivery and improve user experience for veterans.
The federal budget allocated AUD $580 million over four years to support and develop myGov, addressing previous issues of inconsistent funding. The investment ensures the platform can serve as a critical element of national service delivery infrastructure. Additionally, AUD $288.1 million has been earmarked to support the rollout of a national digital ID, further advancing digital integration efforts.
Minister for Veteran Affairs Matt Keogh emphasized the importance of this integration, noting that 250,000 veteran card holders have already connected MyService to myGov.
